Zebulon worked with his brothers until about 1820, when he set up his own shop on Cold Stream Road near Capon Bridge. In 1835, he migrated to Monticello, Indiana, becoming one of the founders. Zebulon died there in 1868.

ReplyDeleteIn 1819 Zebulon Sheetz bought 59 acres on both sides of the Cacapon River. In 1822 he bought 33 acres on Edwards Run. In 1835 he sold James Rinehart ( gunsmith) 40 acres on Edwards Run.
ReplyDeleteThere were several gunsmiths on Cold Stream. Here is some we did a blog post on.
Search for Henry Topper
Search for Rinehart
Search for Shane
& Christopher Slonaker (gunsmith) never did a blog post on him. Slonaker bought land from Topper, and he bought Benjamin Shane's gun shop in 1856. These craftsmen were intertwined.
Thx for the info
